How Malka Bisanadi is Changing Its Members’ Lives

Malka Bisanadi Cultural Village is more than a place it’s a transformation engine for its 25 members. What began as a self-help group has grown into a thriving hub of eco-tourism, sustainable farming, and cultural preservation. For many members especially women Malka has brought access to steady income, farming skills, and opportunities to lead.

Through the group’s fodder and grass seed enterprise, members now grow drought-resistant grass and sell hay during dry seasons, earning more than they ever did from subsistence grazing. Profits are shared equally, boosting household stability. Youth also benefit through part-time jobs in harvesting, baling, and hospitality.

Beyond income, Malka has restored pride in Borana culture. Members host visitors, lead farm tours, and cook traditional meals, turning their knowledge into opportunity. With ongoing training, equipment support, and strong partnerships, Malka Bisanadi is showing what’s possible when community, culture, and resilience come together.
